COEUR d'ALENE, Idaho - Crime is down 20% over the past two years in downtown Coeur d'Alene, according to the Coeur d'Alene Police Department (CDA PD).  The PD says a newly developed police task force is the reason behind it.  In the summer of 2021, CDA PD received 909 calls for service in downtown Coeur d'Alene.  In the summer of 2022, CDA PD received 889 calls for service in downtown Coeur d'Alene.  In the summer of 2023, CDA PD received 710 calls for service in downtown Coeur d'Alene.  It's a group of five officers, specifically assigned to the downtown core.
